Guests with special needs for a Peaceful Stay at La Becterie

Hosting guests with Alzheimer requires care, calm, and the right environment. At La Becterie, we offer just that. Surrounded by green fields, quiet nature, and soothing landscapes, it’s a place to breathe. Our Noirmoutier room, on the ground floor, is fully wheelchair accessible. It’s large, with an easy-to-use walk-in shower—perfect for caregivers who need to help their loved one. On top of that, our table d’hôtes means no need to go out for dinner. Plus, La Becterie offers something essential: a moment of connection and conversation, which many caregivers deeply need

A very recent experience

Recently, we welcomed a couple who stayed for ten days. She was the caregiver; he was living with Alzheimer’s. They shared the house with Richard and Brigitte. Both were tired—emotionally and physically. The husband struggled with disorientation, and for her, it was often overwhelming. But as the days passed, they joined our table each evening. Slowly, she found moments of joy, laughter, and relief in sharing stories with others.

How we help

At La Becterie, we do our best to make everyone feel welcomed and supported. We say yes to last-minute dinners. We’re happy when guests eat their own lunch in the dining room. We brew extra coffee after breakfast and lunch. We listen. We smile. We speak to each person, not just the illness. Hosting guests with Alzheimer is about more than facilities—it’s about kindness. Thank you, M., for choosing La Becterie. I know it was a hard stay at times, but also a beautiful one. This article is for you.
