If you are cycling during your holidays, know that we belong to the same big family of cyclists. I cycle myself. Also be aware that the area around Bricquebec is hilly and wooded—that’s what makes the surroundings so pleasant to me. Here’s how to reach La Becterie by bike from Bricquebec.
The greenway — better known among cyclists as the EuroVelo 4 or “La Vélomaritime”—passes through Bricquebec. It is only about 5.4 km from the house, with an elevation gain of roughly 100 metres. If you are coming by bike, do not plan on having dinner in town; the climb back is steep, and it is not easy to get back in the saddle after a meal. Therefore, it is much better to dine at home!

Here’s how to reach La Becterie by bike from the greenway in Bricquebec. Do not do like Brigitte, Peter, Maggie, and Mike. They came on non-electric bikes on June 24th, ignoring my suggested route. My advice is simple: avoid the D900 at all costs. Take the D66 route instead — less climbing, and most importantly, fewer cars.

Once you arrive at the house, I will take care of you. Brigitte, Peter, Maggie, and Mike had dinner here. We spoke in English, and they later sent me a lovely email to thank me:
- “Bonjour Mathieu, And here we are, back home after a 15-day cycling trip through the Cotentin. Many thanks for welcoming us so warmly. We must have left some of Snow’s fur behind on the way! Such a sweet dog. We met quite a few dogs during our trip. Wishing you all the best in the future. The Cotentin is truly a beautiful region. This was one of our best holidays. We’re heading home ready to plan another cycling trip—maybe with electric bikes this time! Warm regards, Brigitte & Peter, Maggie & Mike”
